8β-Methoxyatractylenolide I is a natural product that is isolated from the roots of Atractylodes macrocephala. It has been reported to have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and immunomodulatory activities. 8β-Methoxyatractylenolide I has been shown to inhibit the production of cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and interleukin 6 (IL6) in mouse macrophages. In addition, it also inhibits the production of nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 in macrophages, which may be due to its ability to suppress NF-κB activation.
