Product Information

Name:
(+)-Puerol B 2''-o-glucoside
Description:

(+)-Puerol B 2''-o-glucoside is a stereochemical that belongs to the group of norlignans. It is a major metabolite of puerarin, which is found in the heartwood of lignum vitae trees. (+)-Puerol B 2''-o-glucoside has been shown to have pharmacological properties, including antimicrobial and antioxidant activity. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit intestinal glucose absorption in an animal model. The biosynthesis of (+)-puerol B 2''-o-glucoside begins with the conversion of phenylalanine into cinnamic acid by phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL). This is then converted by cinnamate 4 o-hydroxylase (C4H) into 4-(1,2-dihydroxyethyl)benzoic acid. Finally, 4-(1,2-dihydroxyethyl
