Halauxifen is a synthetic, broad spectrum antibiotic that can be used to treat bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Halauxifen inhibits the growth of microbes by binding to their DNA and inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. Halauxifen has been shown to be effective against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Candida albicans. Halauxifen also has antiviral properties against influenza A (H1N1) virus in vitro.
