Product Information
Iriflophenone 2-o-rhamnoside is a flavonoid compound that forms an isomeric mixture with iriflavene. Iriflophenone 2-o-rhamnoside has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells and to inhibit growth factor activity. It also has microbicidal properties and can be used as an antibiotic in foods. The hydroxy group on the A ring of the molecule may act as a nucleophile in the reaction of the exocyclic C=C double bond, leading to a new carbon-carbon bond formation. This reaction may generate reactive oxygen species such as hydrogen peroxide or hydroxyl radicals. Iriflophenone 2-o-rhamnoside binds to boron trifluoride etherate, which produces reactive fluorine species that are cytotoxic for cancer cells.
