Product Information

Name:
N-Methylquinolin-3-amine
Description:

The synthesis of N-methylquinolin-3-amine is achieved through the following steps:

1. Nitrobenzene (1) is dissolved in anhydrous diethyl ether and cooled to 0°C with stirring.
2. Potassium tert-butoxide is added dropwise and the mixture is stirred for 10 minutes at 0°C.
3. A solution of 2,6-dimethylaniline (2) in diethyl ether is added slowly to the reaction mixture over a period of 30 minutes, followed by stirring for 1 hour at 0°C.
4. The reaction mixture is poured into cold water and extracted with ethyl acetate, washed with water and subsequently dried over sodium sulfate.
5. The solvent is removed under reduced pressure to yield 3 as a crude product that can be used without purification.br>
