Description:

Polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid sodium salt is a synthetic nucleoside analog that inhibits the synthesis of viral RNA. It is a potent inhibitor of tumor cells and is used in cancer treatment. Polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid sodium salt is a cellular toxin and an inducer of apoptosis, which may be mediated by mitochondrial dysfunction and caspase activation. The drug can also induce an immune response in muscle tissue against viruses and tumors, making it useful as a vaccine adjuvant. The drug has been shown to have antitumor effects in mice with sarcoma 180 cells injected into the muscle.
