Diethyl trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate is a silicone resin that is used in the manufacture of plastics. It can be found in the form of a white powder and is insoluble in water. It has been shown to have an effect on insects such as aphids. This chemical also has been shown to cause pollution, which may be due to its ability to react with oxygen and produce peroxides. Diethyl trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate reacts with glycerin to form trimethylolpropane and polyvinyl alcohol.
