Description:

Convicine is a research tool that is used to study the interactions between ligands and receptors. It inhibits ion channels, which are membrane proteins that allow ions to pass through cell membranes. Convicine inhibits the extracellular calcium-activated chloride channel (ClC-2) by binding to the extracellular domain of ClC-2 and blocking its activity. This inhibition prevents the release of chloride ions, which leads to an increase in intracellular calcium levels.
