  • 2-Hexyloctan-1-Ol

Description:

2-Hexyl-1-n-octanol is a fatty acid that has been found to inhibit the growth of bacteria. It is a component of heptacosane, which is a mixture of octadecane and octadecanoic acids. 2-Hexyl-1-n-octanol inhibits the growth of gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. The mechanism for this inhibition may be due to its ability to act as an inhibitor for proteolytic enzymes, which are responsible for breaking down proteins in the body. This compound has also been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram positive species and exhibits synergistic effects when combined with other compounds.
