Kaempferol 3-²-Sophoroside is a flavonoid that inhibits the growth of cells. It has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in human leukemia, breast cancer, and prostate cancer cells. This compound has potent anti-inflammatory activity by blocking the activation of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and TLR2. Kaempferol 3-²-Sophoroside also has hypoglycemic effects by inhibiting the production of glucose from glycogen in the liver. The hypoglycemic activity may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme p-hydroxybenzoic acid hydroxylase, which converts p-hydroxybenzoic acid into benzoic acid. This compound can be purified by preparative high performance liquid chromatography with a gradient elution system.
