Product Information

Name:
Methyllucidone
Description:

Methyllucidone is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHNO. It is a hexane molecule that belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cyclopentadienones. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. Methyllucidone's biological properties are attributed to its intramolecular hydrogen bond, which may be due to its ability to bind to phosphatases, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis in prostate cancer cells. The molecular structure of methyllucidone can also undergo an intramolecular hydrogen shift, which may contribute to its cytotoxicity in C. neoformans and du145 cells. Methyllucidone has been found through nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) studies to have a deuterium isotope at position 2 on the cyclopentadione ring system.
