It can be used as a selective adsorbent for the uptake of metal ions from solutions. 4-(1H-Pyrazol-4-yl)pyridine can also be used to remove xylene from water and other liquids, producing nonporous crystals that are stable and easy to handle. The molecular structure of 4-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)pyridine has been studied by X-ray diffraction, which revealed its high degree of order and stability.
