Product Information

Name:
AQW-051
Description:

AQW-051 is a salt form of nicotinic acid. Nicotinic acid is a medication used to treat high cholesterol, and may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. Nicotinic acid works by blocking the production of cholesterol in the liver and decreasing the amount of cholesterol absorbed from food. It also helps to increase the body's response to insulin which can help control blood sugar levels.

AQW-051 may be given together with levodopa (L-dopa) and carbidopa, a combination known as Duopa, for treating Parkinson's disease. This drug should not be taken if you have had an allergic reaction to it or any of its ingredients, or if you are taking any MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine). Do not take more than 10 milligrams of AQW-051 per day without first talking with your doctor.
