Cyproconazol is an imidazole fungicide that belongs to the group of triazole derivatives. It has been shown to be a potent bactericide and fungicide with a broad range of activity against bacteria and fungi. Cyproconazol inhibits microbial growth by disrupting the synthesis of proteins, enzymes, and nucleic acids necessary for cell division. This drug is used as a disinfectant in food-contact surfaces, such as agricultural machinery and equipment. Cyproconazol can also be used as a matrix effect chemical to increase the efficacy of other disinfectants or sanitizers. Cyproconazol is toxic to both animals and humans; however, it has been found to be nontoxic to tissue culture cells in vitro.
