Launaea arborescens is a plant species in the family Celastraceae. The plant is distributed in the Mediterranean region and has been used for centuries as a traditional remedy for various ailments, including arthritis, bronchitis, asthma, coughs and other respiratory problems. The main active constituent of this plant is 9(11),12-Oleanadien-3-ol (LAE), which has shown anti-inflammatory properties. LAE inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by binding to the COX enzyme and preventing it from converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandin H2. This mechanism of action prevents inflammation by blocking the production of prostaglandins that are involved in pain and swelling responses to injury or infection.END>
