Product Information

Name:
14-Deoxy-12-hydroxyandrographolide
Description:

Andrographolide is a diterpene that is isolated from the plant Andrographis paniculata. It has shown antimicrobial properties and antitumor effects, including induction of apoptosis in human cancer cells. Andrographolide also exhibits inhibitory activity against metallo-β-lactamase, which are enzymes that are involved in bacterial resistance to β-lactam antibiotics. The chemical structure of andrographolide contains a 14-carbon backbone with an oxygenated hydroxy group at carbon 12, and two hydroxyl groups at carbons 14 and 16. The spectroscopic data analysis confirms that the compound is a flavonoid with a single chiral center at carbon 3.
