Product Information

Name:
NAV 2729
Description:

NAV 2729 is a small molecule drug that inhibits the activity of fatty acid synthase (FAS), an enzyme involved in the synthesis of lipids. It binds to the α subunit of FAS and prevents it from being activated by malonyl-CoA, thereby inhibiting lipid synthesis. NAV 2729 may be used as a treatment for metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes mellitus. The suppression of FAS has been shown to activate hematopoietic cells and increase their proliferation, which may lead to increased production of red blood cells and platelets. This drug also has anti-cancer effects, with inhibition of growth in tumor cell lines in vitro and in vivo. NAV 2729 also inhibits the activation of other signal pathways involved in cancer progression such as JNK and NF-κB.
