CLFP is an inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This leads to increased levels of acetylcholine and thus increased activity at cholinergic synapses. CLFP has been shown to have antinociceptive and antiinflammatory effects in animal studies.
