Description:

Phenyl pentanoate is an ester compound that has been shown to inhibit the activity of plk1, a protein kinase involved in the regulation of cell division. Phenyl pentanoate is also used as a solid catalyst for polymeric matrices and can be used as a coating for degradable materials. In addition to its use as a drug substance, phenyl pentanoate can be used as an aliphatic hydrocarbon in coatings and as a methylvaleric acid dehydrogenase substrate. Phenyl pentanoate is also able to inhibit cancer cells by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis and the production of methylvaleric acid. It may also be useful in the treatment of diabetes due to its ability to inhibit glucose uptake by cells.
