Product Information

Name:
Phenyl Isobutyrate
Synonyms:
  • Isobutyric acid, phenyl ester
  • Propanoic Acid, 2-Methyl-, Phenyl Ester
Description:

Phenyl Isobutyrate is a chemical compound that is used as a pharmaceutical preparation. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of carbonic anhydrase-mediated diseases, such as glaucoma and asthma. Phenyl Isobutyrate has also been shown to be helpful in the treatment of certain cancers, including breast cancer and leukemia. Phenyl Isobutyrate inhibits ATP-binding cassette transporter proteins, which are involved in the transport of various substances into cells. This inhibition prevents the movement of substances from outside of cells into cells, preventing cellular metabolism and growth. Phenyl Isobutyrate has also been found to have an inhibitory effect on Pheromone binding sites by competing with other molecules for binding at these sites. It can be used to block the actions of pheromones or other chemicals that are produced by insects or plants for communication purposes.
Phenyl Isobutyrate is also used as a reagent
