5-(Pyridin-2-yl)-1,3-oxazole is a synthetic cannabinoid that has been shown to have affinity for both the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. 5-(Pyridin-2-yl)-1,3-oxazole is an amide of 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2AG) and pyridine. This compound has been shown to be more selective than other cannabinoids with respect to its activity at the CB1 receptor. The biological relevance of this compound is unclear, but it may be involved in the regulation of appetite, memory, and mood. The chemical structure and lipase selectivity of 5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3-oxazole are similar to those of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
