Description:

Obtusin is a pentacyclic triterpenoid that has been extracted from the fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum. It has been demonstrated to have hypoglycemic and anti-inflammatory activities in tissue culture. Obtusin has also been shown to be an inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis, and may have other therapeutic effects such as its ability to inhibit chronic prostatitis. The potential of Obtusin as a pharmaceutical agent for autoimmune diseases remains to be elucidated.
