Revospirone is a piperazine derivative that is used in the treatment of depression. It is believed to be selective for 5-HT1A receptors, which are located on nerve cells in the brain. Revospirone also has been shown to have diagnostic properties and can be used as a diagnostic agent for various diseases such as cancer and autoimmune diseases. Symptoms of depression include feelings of sadness, worthlessness, and guilt; inability to enjoy life; loss of interest in sex; insomnia or hypersomnia; fatigue or loss of energy; decreased concentration or indecisiveness; and thoughts of suicide.
