Product Information
- 3-Azetidinemethanol
3-(Hydroxymethyl)azetidine is a chemical compound that has a high affinity for the 5-HT1A receptor. It is a lead compound for the development of drugs to treat depression, anxiety and other mood disorders. 3-(Hydroxymethyl)azetidine inhibits the reuptake of serotonin by blocking the transporter responsible for its reuptake. This drug also has an inhibitory effect on 5-HT1A receptors in vitro and in vivo. 3-(Hydroxymethyl)azetidine binds to the 5-HT1A receptor with high affinity and acts as an antagonist, preventing agonists from binding to it. Nucleophilic substitution reactions can be used to synthesize this molecule as well as nucleophilic addition reactions with formaldehyde or methyl iodide.
