4-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)benzaldehyde is a molecule that belongs to the group of anionic compounds. It is synthesized from phenol and tert-butyldimethylchlorosilane. This compound is used in the synthesis of paclitaxel, which has been shown to be effective against breast cancer cells. 4-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)benzaldehyde can also be used as a precursor for other functionalized molecules, such as copolymers. This compound undergoes copolymerization with various other monomers, such as vinyl acetate, acrylate esters, and acrylic acid derivatives to form polyesters. 4-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)benzaldehyde reacts with fluoride ion or chloride ion in solution to produce colorimetric changes. It also reacts with butyllithium to form primary alcohols.
