JTV-519 is a novel compound that has the ability to increase energy metabolism in cells. It was created by altering the chemical structure of an existing drug, which is a cytosolic calcium channel blocker. JTV-519 has been shown to have a positive effect on cardiac function, as well as prevention of congestive heart failure. This drug also reduces diastolic pressure and improves renal function by increasing glomerular filtration rate. JTV-519 also interacts with toll-like receptor 2 and 4 (TLR2/4), which are molecules involved in inflammation and immune response. Experimental data suggests that JTV-519 may be useful for treating cardiovascular diseases such as atrial or ventricular arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, or cardiac hypertrophy.
