Product Information
Serrin A is a diterpenoid found in the plant species Rabdosia rubescens. It has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cell lines, including leukemia and breast cancer cells. Serrin A also has anti-inflammatory effects and can inhibit the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) associated with inflammation. The configuration of serrin A is ent-kaurane, which means it is composed of a terminal methyl group and two ketone groups. The skeleton of this molecule is made up of two rings that are hydrophobic, making it poorly soluble in water. The name "serrin" comes from the Latin word for "saw," which refers to its molecular structure resembling a saw blade.
