Product Information
CYM 5541 is a recombinant adenovirus that may be used as a gene therapy for heart tissue. It is activated by the presence of calcium and has been shown to be pluripotent in the sense that it can differentiate into cells of all three primary germ layers. CYM 5541 produces basic proteins, including collagen, which are important to the structural integrity of heart tissue. This virus also activates a number of genes that are important in protein synthesis and cell differentiation. Finally, CYM 5541 has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on bowel disease, specifically ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
