Thalidomide-o-amido-PEG4-C2-NH2 hydrochloride is a research tool that can be used to study receptor/ligand interactions. It is an activator for the GABA(A) receptor and a ligand for the alpha1B adrenergic receptor. This molecule has been shown to inhibit ion channels, such as calcium ion channels, and also inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting peptidyl transferase activity. Thalidomide-o-amido-PEG4-C2-NH2 hydrochloride has been shown to be an inhibitor of cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo.
