Cyclobutanesulfonamide is a macrocyclic compound that belongs to the class of isoquinoline compounds. It has been shown to be an effective antiviral agent in vitro. This compound can be metabolized by hydrolysis, oxidation and reduction reactions, or reduction reactions. The nitrogen atoms in this molecule are amines, which can be converted to nitrosoamines by enzymes such as monoamine oxidase. The oxygen atoms are esters and carbonyl groups that can be hydrolyzed by esterases and oxidized by cytochrome P450 enzymes respectively. Cyclobutanesulfonamide has been shown to have eye disorder-mediated activity in vivo and hepatitis-mediated activity in vitro.
