Description:

Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine drug that binds to the GABA receptor and is used for the treatment of anxiety, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, and muscle spasms. It has been shown to affect locomotor activity in rats, an effect which may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of serotonin from platelets. Chlordiazepoxide also has an effect on collagen gel contraction, which may be due to its effects on 5-HT2 receptors. Chlordiazepoxide is a potential model system for wastewater treatment because it can bind to different types of organic matter and adsorb onto particulates. This makes it possible for chlordiazepoxide to act as a coagulant and flocculant, aiding in the removal of organic matter and suspended solids from wastewater. Chlordiazepoxide also has side-effect profiles that are similar to other benzodiazepines. There have been reports of chlordiazepoxide interactions with drugs such as phenytoin, carbamaz
