Spiradine F is a plant extract that has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in vitro, as well as antibacterial and antiplatelet activities. Spiradine F is composed of hexacyclic diterpenes, flavonoids, and c20-diterpenoid alkaloids. It is found in a number of plants from the genus Rosaceae. Spiradine F is a precursor for the production of spiramine and rosasinin A. Its bioactivities are due to its ability to inhibit platelet aggregation and limit the release of arachidonic acid from phospholipid hydrolysis. Spiradine F also possesses antioxidant properties as it can scavenge free radicals and inhibit lipid peroxidation.
