• Description: Epiandrosterone-beta-glucuronide is a metabolite of androsterone that has been found in the urine of men with prostate cancer. Epiandrosterone-beta-glucuronide is a potential biomarker for prostate cancer, as it may be one of the first substances to accumulate in the prostate gland following tumor development. It can be detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and was used to detect prostate cancer in patients who had elevated levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) but no detectable tumor on biopsy. Epiandrosterone-beta-glucuronide can also be used for immunotherapy, as it activates steroid receptors and induces an immune response.
