Product Information
- Magnesium Bromide Naphthalen-2-Ide (1:1:1)
2-Naphthylmagnesium bromide is a chloroformate that is used in the synthesis of polyenes, which are substances with antibacterial activity. 2-Naphthylmagnesium bromide reacts with phosphite to form a diketone and then undergoes cross-coupling with an aromatic compound, such as naphthalene. The reaction products are chloride and an isomeric binaphthyl. This process can be reversed by reacting the product with sodium carbonate to form a ring-opening reaction. 2-Naphthylmagnesium bromide is also used as an imaging technique for brain imaging.
