Description:

Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl is a herbicide that is used to control annual and perennial broadleaf weeds, grasses, and sedges. It inhibits the growth of plants by inhibiting photosynthesis and is commonly used to control weeds in cereal crops such as wheat, barley, oats, rye, triticale, corn, sorghum, rice and soybeans. Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl is effective at low doses against many weed species but does not affect other crops or non-target plants. The active ingredient binds to the fatty acid binding site on the cytochrome P450 enzyme which prevents fatty acid biosynthesis in plants. This causes a decrease in plant size and an increase in leaf chlorosis. Toxicity studies have shown that fenoxaprop-P-ethyl can cause adverse effects on liver function when consumed over a long period of time.
