Description:

(S)-3-Hydroxyphenylglycine is a neurotransmitter that acts on metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) and is expressed in the brain. It is reversibly inhibited by amphetamines, which are drugs that stimulate the central nervous system. It has been shown to be expressed in the ovary, where it can modulate Ca2+ signals and potentiate glutamate-mediated neuronal responses. (S)-3-Hydroxyphenylglycine may have antidepressant effects due to its ability to regulate Ca2+ levels in the synaptic cleft of neurons.
