2-Chloro-4-hydroxybenzothiazole is a heterocyclic ring that is a reaction product of 2-chlorobenzothiazole and aminobenzothiazole. It is used as a dye molecule in the textile industry, where it reacts with amines to form diazonium salts, which are sulphonate anions. 2-Chloro-4-hydroxybenzothiazole can be produced by heating 2-chlorobenzothiazole and aminobenzothiazole in the presence of oleum or chlorosulphonic acid. This reaction produces an anion that has a covalent bond with the nuclei. The chloride ion also forms a covalent bond with the heterocyclic ring in this reaction.
