Product Information
Ramelteon is a potent, selective, and orally active inhibitor of the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) class of enzymes. It has been shown to inhibit the PPIases clostridium histolyticum and clostridium botulinum, which are involved in bacterial cell wall biosynthesis. Ramelteon binds to Ligand binding domain of GPCRs that are activated by endogenous ligands such as melatonin and serotonin. This binding prevents agonists from binding to the receptor and activating downstream signaling pathways. Ramelteon also inhibits ion channels that allow ions to flow across membranes and plays an important role in regulating neuronal excitability.
