It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on inflammation in vitro and in vivo. 3-(3-Hydroxy-piperidin-1-yl)-1-phenyl-propan-1-one has also been shown to have antibacterial activity against strains of bacteria resistant to fluconazole, including Candida albicans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus. This drug also inhibits lipoxygenases, which play an important role in generating lipid peroxidation.
