Zileuton Related Compound A is a chemical substance present in human serum and urine that is an enantiomer of zileuton. It is a molecule with two tautomers, one of which has an intramolecular hydrogen bond. The other tautomer does not have the intramolecular hydrogen bond. Zileuton Related Compound A is excreted by glomerular filtration and undergoes further metabolism to form α1-acid glycoprotein, which can be detected in the blood and urine. Zileuton Related Compound A has been found to increase the glomerular filtration rate in humans.
Zileuton Related Compound A has been shown to have pharmacodynamic effects on patients with chronic liver disease, such as cirrhosis or hepatic impairment, who are being treated with zileuton for asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
