Product Information
1,2-Dihydro-4,5-bis(1-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-3H-pyrazol-3-one (BPDE) is a chemical that is found in cigarette smoke and in the environment. It has been shown to cause neuronal death by inducing apoptosis. BPDE can also induce cell cycle arrest and inhibit cell proliferation. This chemical binds to nuclear dna and inhibits transcription of genes involved in cellular growth and differentiation. BPDE can also activate toll like receptors that contribute to the pathogenic mechanism of cancer cells. In addition, BPDE has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes necessary for DNA synthesis and repair, leading to inhibition of gene expression for proteins involved in the cell cycle, apoptosis pathway, and growth factor signalling pathways.
