Description:
[(5,6-Dimethylthieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)thio]acetic acid is a potent inhibitor of osteoclastic bone resorption. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of the enzyme osteoclast activating factor (OF), which is necessary for osteoclasts to break down bone. This drug has been shown to have a significant effect on preventing or slowing down the progression of osteopenia and osteoporosis in animal models.
