Description:

PI-103 is a potent inducer of apoptosis. It has low potency and is selective for solid tumours, such as breast cancer. PI-103 inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential by binding to the voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) in the outer mitochondrial membrane. PI-103 also inhibits protein synthesis and induces cell death by activating caspase 9 and caspase 3. PI-103 is also used to treat viral infections, such as hepatitis C virus, and bacterial infections, including tuberculosis.
