Ent-avibactam sodium is a synthetic molecule that is active against a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses. It has been shown to be active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as some protozoa and parasites. Ent-avibactam sodium is currently being studied for use in the treatment of cancer. This drug binds to the beta subunit of DNA gyrase, inhibiting its activity. This action blocks the synthesis of RNA from DNA and prevents protein production by ribosomes. Ent-avibactam sodium has also been shown to have antiviral properties.
