AZA1 is a solid catalyst that is used in LC-MS/MS methods for regulatory toxicity studies. It has been shown to be non-toxic in a battery of toxicity studies, including the Ames test, primary sclerosing cholangitis rat model, and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) induced cellular physiology study in CD-1 mice. AZA1 has also been found to have anti-cancer properties in prostate cancer cells as well as other malignant cell lines. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit the growth of various bacteria, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

The product 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is an antituberculosis drug that belongs to the class of rifamycins. The most active form of this drug is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations
