Epivogeloside is a secoiridoid glycoside that has been found in Epilobium japonicum, Lonicera japonica, and other plants in the Caprifoliaceae family. Epivogeloside can be synthesized from d-mannitol and etoh extract. Epivogeloside has been shown to have a number of medicinal effects such as inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, inducing apoptosis, and inhibiting the proliferation of tumor cells. In addition to its anti-cancer properties, epivogeloside has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities and to inhibit angiogenesis. The mechanism of action for these effects is not yet known.
