Description:Mazindol-d4 is a synthetic analogue of the endogenous peptide hormones, hydroxylase. It is a potent inhibitor of dopamine uptake and has been shown to be useful in the detection of dopamine. Mazindol-d4 has high affinity for the dopamine uptake system, which leads to its competitive inhibition of the uptake of dopamine. The ligation of mazindol-d4 to l-amino acid conjugates makes it possible for this substance to be detected by adsorption isotherm. Mazindol-d4 also binds with receptors on dopaminergic neurons and can modify their activity, which may result in an increased production of dopamine.
