It is the most abundant diterpenoid in the bark and has shown to be cytotoxic against human breast, liver, and lung cancer cells. This compound is also known to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Grandiflorenic acid has also been shown to affect blood pressure by lowering it in rats.
