Description:

Isocryptotanshinone is a natural compound that belongs to the class of fructus ligustri. It has been shown to induce autophagy in human HL-60 cells and may have potential as a drug target for cancer treatment. Isocryptotanshinone promotes mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibits cell lysis, both of which are important in cancer treatment. Isocryptotanshinone also inhibits the growth of xenograft tumor cells, showing anti-tumor effects. This compound may be useful in treating congestive heart failure because it prevents apoptosis by inhibiting caspase activation and cytochrome c release.
