Description:
Cryptomerin A is a chromatographic and preparative isomer of cryptomeria. The compound was first isolated in the late 1950s. Cryptomerin A has been found in the bark of Cryptomeria japonica and Cryptomeria cupressaceae, which are members of the Cupressaceae family. The chemical structure of cryptomerin A contains a lactam ring, which is similar to that of sulphanilic acid. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
